If this isn’t the most ironic story in modern politics, I don’t know what is.
Late last year, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat colleagues conducted a full-scale investigation into President Donald Trump, claiming he threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine unless he got “dirt” on Hunter Biden from the foreign government.
House Democrats called Trump’s accused actions numerous things, from “Quid Pro Quo” to holding Ukraine “hostage.”
Fast forward two months after the conclusion of the failed impeachment process, straight into the midst of a worldwide pandemic.
Pelosi is doing exactly what she impeached Trump for doing — she flew into Washington D.C. at the last moment, tossed a monkey wrench into the bipartisan talks between senators, and held the American people hostage in order to fulfill her ideological agenda.
You know, stopping the outpouring of billions of dollars to newly-unemployed Americans and the medical community for foolish things like more bargaining powers for unions, increased fuel emissions standards for airlines, and the expansion of solar and wind tax credits.
It’s one thing to claim the president held a foreign power hostage for information on a political opponent in a private phone call.
It’s another thing entirely to actually hold hostage life-saving medical equipment and much-needed economic relief in your own country to pass disturbing, unrelated ideological line-items — and all in broad-daylight.
Currently, a petition to remove Pelosi over this hypocritical action is going viral, amassing 20,000 signatures in the last 24 hours.
“She does not deserve to be Speaker of the House. She does not deserve to be in talks with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. She does not deserve to have an office in the halls of Congress,” the petition page read.
“Which means she doesn’t deserve the title of ‘U.S. Representative,’ the hallmark designation of an individual whose job is to go to bat for citizens across the United States and deal with crises head-on,” the petition concluded.
